It seems so obvious that this is a dream and nothing more. Between the blatant prejudice against anyone that opposed Italy to the crimes with the worst punishment being things that Dante disliked most, it just is too obvious to me that this is a false tale. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if he hadn't made this trip seem like his fantasy Hell in the book. Even right down to his guide, Virgil, Hell is exactly the perfect Hell for Dante. All of his opponents, people he disliked, and factions he opposed have made their way here. Even someone that isn't dead yet somehow arrived in there.Chris Bodanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05353335189325693826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5031376589570368899.post-69484874744845824112008-10-29T19:15:00.000-07:002008-10-29T19:15:00.000-07:00Dante's Inferno does not seem like an average poem...Dante's Inferno does not seem like an average poem. I read it more like a novel than anything else. The old english makes it hard to read, but when I get do get what is says the book becomes okay. It's pretty interesting to see what Dante's veiw of hell is, although I definatly do not beleive Hell is anything like how Dante describes it to be.Dirty Petehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01776043695841690023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5031376589570368899.post-56067743811345722008-10-29T17:51:00.000-07:002008-10-29T17:51:00.000-07:00Personally I really don't like the book, but yeah ...Personally I really don't like the book, but yeah I guess if I understood it better and could connect with things happening in the book maybe I could enjoy it. I think that some of the things in Hell are very fitting to what should be in Hell, and other people and punishments I don't believe should be there. If I had written this poem the structure of Hell would have been much different; however, the crimes and life styles people lead were much different in those times. I especially think the punishment is funny for the “ass-kissers” because they are wading in a never-ending river of poop. As a high school student I really have never thought about hell and the sins that would cause a person to go there. It seems to have a more general idea of sin, and the issue of repentance is a key. If you sin habitually and are not truthfully repentant you may end up in hell, but a person who makes mistakes in their lifetime and is truthfully sorry for what they have done they won't end up in hell. This book for me has been more than just a cool story and outlook on hell, it has been a learning experience that has put ideas in my head about how to live life and try to improve for the better. As well as making me feel that hell is a scary place. Overall this is a very interesting book and really makes you think before you act.Jake Hulseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03880244042032404683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5031376589570368899.post-65280569227387461712008-10-20T18:50:00.000-07:002008-10-20T18:50:00.000-07:00Well so far the book been interesting .
