Movies Compared to The Road

Out of all the movies we seen, which movie did you think had the most similarties to The Road?

I think The Omega Man had the most similarities because of the man and Boy being alone, they didn't really bring hope to anyone (like in the Postman) but there was the religious imagery, the loneliness, and then you had people (bloodcults) going after, or finding people and killing them like in The Omega Man.

Out of all the movies thus far, definately Omega Man. It had almost the same storyline and all the characters seemed very similar. The villians were guys bloodthirsty killers that were out to kill any survivors and the good guys like the boy and man and Charles Heston were fighting to survive and to find the essentials to live.

I think that Omega Man was the closests to The Road because the man had to fight off the others and defend himself and then the ones that he was with. And when he died it was like when the Father died leaving the boy only in Omega Man he left the family of orphans all together with a vacine.

Out of both of the movies that we have seen thus far I definitley think that The Omega Man was the most comparable to The Road. I feel this way because in both stories disaster strikes, and there are very few people living in both the book and movie. Also in The Omega Man the doctor could be looked at as a Jesus type figure or Messiah, and that is the way the boy in The Road is viewed as.

I disagree. I think that The Postman had the most similarities to the book The Road. Kevin Costner played a character in a post apocalyptic America which he wandered around alone, like the Man and the Boy. I disagree with the statement Cody made about not bringing hope to anyone. That seemed to be the biggest theme in the movie, that by delivering mail to people it was bringing hope that the United States would soon be reformed. There weren’t any blood cults in The Postman, but the Holnists were a tyrant ruled army that had slaves and murdered people for no reason, which is similar in my mind to the blood cults in The Road.

The movie Omega Man was had the most similarities to the novel The Road because there was a very little population in the movie and the novel. In both of these stories there was somebody or people living by themselves and adapting to single lifestyles.

I think the Postman was the most similar to The Road. It was about a nation that was tourn apart and there was really nothing left. The people that were left formed there own socities and were scared of all the other people. These are the main two similarties of The Road. In The Road the Man and the Boy were left alone and the people they came accross had formed their own little group. There are many more similarties but I believe those were the two biggest ones.

I would have to go with Omega Man having to be more closely related to the book The Road. This is because of the imagery of Jesus more towards the end of the movie and how the boy in the novel is a symbol of good and Jesus being a good citizen by saving the people. Another similarity that each character has to deal with both in the movie and the book is the bloodcults and to survive from the harsh realities.

Both of the movies that we have seen are very similar to The Road, but I consider The Postman to be a bit more like the Road. In The Postman, the main character seems to be in grave danger, much like the characters from The Road. In the Omega Man the main character never seems to be in that big of danger, he seems like he has taken advantage of his status as one of the last few people in the world.

I think that The Postman has the most similarities to The Road. Even though The Postman spread a message of hope and The Road seems to have an aura of depair about it. But if you look deeper into The Road you see a message of hope in it. Though they aren't spreading their message of hope really widespread, they are keeping it to themselves, it is a message of hope nonetheless.

I think that the movie Omega Man had the most similarities because the man in the movie was all by himself, fighting against people, did not really have a lot going for him, just like the father and son in The Road. There were both religious imagery in the book and movie. Omega Man really fit better with the The Road.

I think that Omega Man had the most similarities with The Road because they both had evil bad guys who wanted to kill them. The father and son are always looking out for the bloodcults and in Omega Man those hooded people are looking to kill him. They also have a close scenery because Omega Man was located in a ransacked city and The Road is located through different cities.

Like everyoen else already said the movie that seem to be the most similair is the Omega man. Its basically they are both about a man that might be one of the few left on this planet and has people trying to kill himself . The man struggles to get the basic needs to survive. Even though in Omega man all he has to do is stay out of the dark and he will be fine . Omega man has just to look around the city and he will find what he needs.

I think The Omega Man had the most similarities because of The Man and Boy being alone. Also because there were the religious imagery, between the end of Omega Man and throughout he book we see the Boy being symbolized as as savior, the loneliness, and then you had people (bloodcults) going after, or finding people and killing them like in The Omega Man. Also the other survivors in Omega Man, who were normal and the virus hadn't changed them yet, were like the man and his family at the end of The Road on the account that they both wanted to "start" a new world.

I think that the Omega Man was by a long shot. This was because the boy and his father were together on their journey like the omega man, where Kevin Costner in the postman was with a large group of people. Also, the characters and story lines were both very similar. The postman had Bethlehem an evil leader, and the omega man had the evil night people.

I think that Omega Man had the most similarities with the book because they both stated of with no one in the city except from themselves. Then as you get deeper into the movie and book you see more characters and the two main characters in the book died leaving loved ones behind that they protected.

out of all the movies we have seen in class i feel that omega man was the closest one to the road. this is because the man in the road and omega man were alone and having to fight for there lives from some kind of blood cult.

I think Omega Man works with this very well. The villians were blood-cult members/killers that were out to kill any survivors and the good guys like the boy and man and Charles Heston were fighting to survive and to find the essentials to live.

The movie that has the most similarities to "The Road" is definitely "The Postman." I would have to agree with Kevin Gorman because in "The Postman" Kevin Costner is traveling down a road by himself not wanting to make contact with anyone. When he would need food he would go into a town, just like the man and the boy would. Kevin Costner and the boy are similar characters in that they bring hope to both movie and book. Finally the bloodcult in "The Road" and the army in "The Postman" are very similar.

Omega Man was definatly a lot more like the Road than any other of the movies that we saw. Omega Man was able to captured the state of isolation. 'The family' in Omega Man was able to represent the cannibals of The Road. In the movie Postman, there many other survivors and good guys to accompany the main character.

I think that The Postman was the closest to the book we are reading. The Postman was the only one that had a man on the road trying not to be captured by the bad guys and reach his destination. There were also a lot of differences but i think this one was the closest.

Out of all the movies so far, I think The Omega Man has similarities to The Road. I think this because they both have a tragic moment that happen in America to wipe out the population. It also shoes similarities because they both have the characters going through challenges looking for answers.

I think that The Postman has the most similarities to The Road. I think this because there was a desolate atsmophere, organized groups and the holminsts played the bloodcults.

I would have to say the postman just from the simple fact they both a had journey or mission that required traveling.

For me i would have to saythat the only really goo movie that might fit this story would have to be "I am Legand." Only because of the fact that the people that will Smith was fighting off were real people but they too were unstable and would eat or kill anyone else who got in their way. this was very true with the Boodcults. They would kill and eat anyone who came in their way who was not like them and who didnt want the same as they wanted

I would have to say the Postman because the both have their similarities. The Postman has that end of the world type of enviorment but he is tring to make better for people. nd in the Road The Man and his son are just trying to survive and not help anybody but theirselves

The best novel that i would say has the most similarity as The Road would be Omega Man becasue the man and the boy were smimilar to the Man in woman in Omega man. Also the people in both of the story's people were acting not human. Also at the end both men get killed and the only good left is children and kids

Joey Barrick said...

As most people have said on here so far, I believe the Omega Man had the most similarities with The Road because the man and woman in the Omega Man was the only living person that still resembled the past world, like the man and boy in The Road. The other obvious similarity is the group of people in this new society who attack the people, such as the blood cults or the people who thrived in the dark.

i would say omegaman. Both have bleak america's set in the near future, with creepy cults running around trying to kill everyone.

I think that Omega Man had the most similarities with the road because it started off with no one around and in both they found people they trusted and enemies as it went on. And then the main characters end up dying at the end.

I think that The Postman had the most similarities to The Road because even though The Omega Man is similar in the way that he was just trying to survive against all odds, The Postman kind of reminded me of the theme of hope in both that movie and The Road. In The Road the boy and his father are always talking about how they are carrying the fire which symbolizes hope. And I think The Postman is carrying hope symbolized by the letters he delivers.

I think that Omega Man was the most conceptually related novel to this one because it featured a similar plot structure and was also set in a future world from the one we know today.

I would have to say that Omega Man is the most comparable film we have watched to the novel. They both take place in a world where there are few normal survivors trying to survive. They also both feature some sort of cult that is after the survivors trying to kill them, although why they are trying to kill them is different in The Road than in Omega Man. In Omega Man, the man was alone on his own just trying to survive and provide for himself much like how the man and boy were doing in The Road.
